Ivan Franko Park is one of the oldest parks in Khmelnytskyi, covering 2.12 hectares in the city centre between Proskurivska Street, Ivana Franka Street and the railway line. In the 19th century this was a marshy backwater where townspeople bathed among the reeds; in the mid-1920s the marsh was drained and a park focused on culture and sport was laid out. After the war it gained a sports base, a summer cinema and a writers' alley with sculptures of literary figures, earning it a reputation as the 'sporting and bookish' park. Today it is a shady place for leisurely walks with a children's playground, and on weekends local artists gather here.
